I talked about the underlying software in the previous article, and with that in place I wanted it to actually look nice. Well, nicer.
Paragraphs of text with images contained within Bootstrap cardsSystem font is great for code but less great for everything else, so I visited Font Squirrel and looked through their popular fonts. Open Sans looks great so I used that as the basis for the site. I downloaded the latest version of Bootstrap and tweaked it a bit (purple buttons anyone?) which gave me an easy way to describe the layout. Although there aren’t many visual effects on show, I did want to have a click-to-view modal on the images so I used jQuery’s modal for that.
And with that, I suddenly had a site! I just needed to have some news to report…
